Foothills WFC Hosts Another MLS Affiliate Real Salt Lake Women

June 14, 2018, Calgary, AB - Foothills WFC – Calgary’s team representing the highest level of Women’s Soccer in Canada will host an exciting match against MLS affiliate the Real Salt Lake Women on Friday evening. This Father’s Day weekend match marks the halfway point of an undefeated season for this powerful team and their confidence has been further boosted with some stand-out individual player performances.

Their most recent game against L.A. Galaxy on Sunday, June 10, proved that this roster is a force to be reckoned with. With half the season behind them, the leadership on the field and the synergy between them is obvious. “The team is a mix of young and fresh players with some savvy and experienced ones added to the group. This has really worked as far as our chemistry goes – it’s a fun and committed group.” Head Coach Troye Flannery stated.

The weekend’s star, seventeen-year-old attacker, Mya Jones, scored the last two goals of Sunday’s game after displaying quick and deceptive skill. The young player has undoubted potential as she holds her own among the other players on her team with international experience: Sarah Kinzner, Alex Lamontagne, Jessie Jones, Christabel Oduro,  Lauren Raimondo, Rehana Murani, Camilla Shymka and the recently signed Olympic goal keeper, Stephanie Labbe.

It will be the Real Salt Lake Women’s first trip to Calgary, but they are no stranger to the Foothills WFC and they will be looking to make up for the 3-0 loss they had against Calgary earlier this season. Led by head coach Mark Davis, this MLS affiliated team isn’t one to back down. After gaining points that won them their last game (goals scored by forceful attackers Ella Johnson, Tori Smith and Haley North) – the RSLW will undoubtedly be hungry for another win.

This Father’s Day weekend game will be the perfect father-daughter outing and the fourth of five home games in the month of June. The team hopes to engage the community with not only an exciting and high-level soccer match but also with beer gardens, half-time entertainment, food vendors (Burger Bandit Food Truck and Canada Mini Donuts) and a kids’ zone
