Foothills FC Returns Home for an All Canadian Top of the Table Clash

It’s home sweet home this weekend for Foothills FC.

After their longest road trip of the 2018 season, where they achieved a perfect nine points in three matches, the team returns home on Saturday afternoon to Foothills Composite High School in Okotoks to face the TSS FC Rovers (Vancouver) for the first of their final two home matches of 2018.

Saturdays match will be the third time the two teams meet this season, with the first two matches split at one win a piece making this the rubber match.  The Rovers were the first (and only) team to defeat Foothills this season when they took the first meeting 2-1 on June 1st led by two goals from striker Daniel Sagno.  Foothills claimed their revenge in the rematch in Vancouver last Friday night with a hard fought 1-0 victory with Nico Pasquotti securing the victory with the only goal of the match and Marco Carducci keeping a clean sheet.

To add to the intrigue of this weekend’s marque matchup, TSS FC Rovers are currently in second place in the PDL NW Division and although Foothills FC enters the game with a 10 point advantage in the standings, Foothills has played two extra games to this point and a TSS FC Rovers victory on Saturday would narrow the gap and keep their division title hopes alive.  With the PDL eliminating the Divisional playoff games between 1st and 2nd place in each division, A Foothills victory  would all but secure a 2nd Division Title in 3 years for the squad.

With their title hopes on the line the Rovers are sure to be up for Saturdays match.  The squad from Vancouver has been very effective in finding the back of the net this season scoring 14 goals in 8 games and only being held off the scoresheet once.  They have also spread the scoring around this season with 9 different goal scorers, making them very difficult to defend.

That bodes well for Foothills as one of the biggest level of pride for the club this season has been their defensive effort, allowing only six goals in ten matches, which is the fewest goals per game in the entire Western Conference.  They have been especially stingy at their new home in Okotoks this season allowing only 2 goals in 5 games, resulting in three wins and two draws at home.

Foothills FC will look to continue their success at home at 2:00pm on Saturday afternoon in Okotoks.  Only two home games remain in the 2018 season, tickets are available online at www.foothillsfc.ca or at the gate.   Be sure to check the highest level of men’s soccer in Alberta in 2018 while enjoying the experience including food trucks, beer gardens, half time entertainment, kids zone, and much more.
