NW Division Champion Foothills FC riding a 6 game winning streak is set to conclude their best ever Regular Season with a Top of the Table Clash at home vs the Seattle Sounders U23

Calgary, Alberta – After clinching its second NW Division Championship in three years during their bye week, Foothills FC celebrated with back to back victories in Oregon over the weekend vs Lane United and the Portland Timbers U23.  Now they hope to bring the celebration home in their regular season finale against the Seattle Sounders U23 this Saturday afternoon in Okotoks.

Saturdays match is certain to be an entertaining one as it pits the two top teams in the Northwest Division along with the divisions two top scorers in Moses Danto (Foothills FC, 9 goals) and Santiago Patino (Sounders U23, 8 goals).  Foothills FC also possesses the Conferences top keeper in Marco Carducci allowing only 5 goals in 10 matches on the season including 6 clean sheets, while the Sounders have a young star keeper of their own, Marvin Kasim, who has taken over the starting role in net and is undefeated in his last three starts allowing only one goal in those three matches.

After beginning the season slowly with only 1 win in their first 6 matches, the Sounders U23 team have won their last 3 matches in convincing fashion, outscoring their opponents 9 – 1 during the streak and are undefeated since their last meeting with Foothills on June 13th.  Their current form has moved the squad into second place in the NW Division and in a battle for the last remained Western Conference wildcard playoff spot.  A win on Saturday in the regular season finale is a must to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Foothills FC has been on a bit of a streak of their own and hope to continue their success as they prepare for the playoffs.  The team has won its last 6 games by a combined score of 18 – 3 and is undefeated in its last 8 games. Head Coach Tommy Wheeldon Jr. is confident the group is on the right track, “They've got the championship winning spirit because they're playing with a purpose, but what's pleasing is that we are finding different ways to win games which is something you need if you want to go all the way.

Saturdays match will be the Seattle Sounders U23’s only trip to Calgary this season, however it is the third meeting between the two teams with Foothills taking the first two in convincing fashion in Seattle.  The Sounders have been a different team since their last match with Foothills and will be eager to clinch a playoff spot on the road.  Coach Wheeldon has different ideas, “We are excited to come home and will focus on our final game of this season against a very good, in form Seattle Sounders U23 team.  We want to finish off the regular season with another great performance in front of our home crowd."
